Dr. Khaled Al-Zamel, Chairman of the Communication and Information Technology Regulatory Authority of Kuwait, affirmed the commitment to supporting the information technology sector, encouraging innovation, and exchanging expertise to advance the digital future between the State of Kuwait and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
This came during Al-Zamel's speech at the Kuwaiti-Pakistani Technology Conference, organized by the Pakistani Embassy in Kuwait in cooperation with the Communication and Information Technology Regulatory Authority.
He added that the conference, which is being held during Kuwait's presidency of the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO), reflects the commitment to digital cooperation and building an inclusive digital economy between the two countries. He explained that the conference also serves as a platform for building partnerships between governments, industries, entrepreneurs, and investors, contributing to job creation, expanding opportunities, and achieving shared prosperity.
He pointed out that the conference is a reaffirmation of Kuwait's commitment to ethical, human-centered artificial intelligence, and highlights the prominent position of Pakistan's IT sector at both regional and international levels. It also reflects how innovation and values can converge on a unified path.
Al-Zamel explained that digital transformation is at the heart of Kuwait Vision 2035, which includes smart governance, the financial sector, healthcare, smart cities, and cybersecurity — especially artificial intelligence, which is reshaping economies and societies.
He noted that the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) has adopted ethical principles for AI, launching several tools such as the AI Ethics Evaluator and the AI Capacity Building Program, in addition to the launch of the AI-REAL Toolkit, which offers tailored roadmaps for AI development.
For his part, Dr. Zafar Iqbal, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Kuwait, said in a similar speech that this conference — bringing Kuwait and Pakistan together on a single platform for the first time — embodies the shared vision for a digital future between the two nations.
Iqbal emphasized that the conference marks a historic moment, as Kuwait and Pakistan come together to strengthen cooperation in a new domain: digital transformation. He noted that Pakistan is among the fastest-growing countries in Asia in this field, while Kuwait is advancing with a forward-looking vision, making it the ideal partner.
The Pakistani ambassador stated that both Kuwait and Pakistan take pride in aligning with the vision of the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO), which aims to develop AI in a responsible and inclusive manner.
Ambassador Iqbal also praised the recent easing of visa processes, which will open new doors for commercial exchange and cooperation. He stressed that the current conference is a launching point for lasting collaboration in this new field between the two countries.
He considered that cooperation between companies in both countries helps build trust, strengthen friendships, and lays the foundation for a shared digital future between the two nations and their people — especially since cooperation among Arab and Islamic countries in the digital field has become a necessity, as it empowers youth and contributes to ongoing development.
For her part, Dr. Hajar Al-Haddawi, Director-General of the Digital Cooperation Organization, stated to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the organization is keen to support its member states, including Kuwait and Pakistan, by enabling them in the digital economy, promoting investment, creating job opportunities, and adopting joint technological cooperation strategies.
Al-Haddawi added that the organization's support for the two countries was evident through the launch of the AI-REAL Toolkit, which includes a roadmap for AI technology along with practical recommendations and actionable strategies for responsible and inclusive growth. She confirmed that this support reflects the organization's leadership in AI governance at both regional and international levels.
She noted that the conference serves as a strategic platform between the two countries to showcase Kuwait Vision 2035 and the technology capabilities of Pakistan, which is known as a major exporter of software, creating investment and innovation opportunities for companies and innovators on this platform.
