The Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) held a meeting chaired by Chairman of the Board of Directors Dr. Khaled Mohammed Al-Zamel to discuss the latest developments regarding Google Cloud's cloud data centers project in the State of Kuwait and the related infrastructure requirements. The meeting was attended by Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Public Works Ms. Kifaya Al-Najdi; Acting Assistant Undersecretary for the Electrical Transmission Networks Sector at the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy Eng. Faisal Al-Sumait; Google Cloud's Regional Director in Kuwait Ms. Shaima Al-Turkit; as well as a number of representatives from the participating entities and specialists from CITRA.
The meeting reviewed the progress of the construction works for Google Cloud's cloud data centers in the State of Kuwait, which are planned to be established at sites south of Al-Mutlaa Residential City, in Jaber Al-Ahmad Residential City, and in Al-Sulaibiya Agricultural Area. The meeting also addressed the project's infrastructure requirements, the level of readiness, and the necessary steps and requirements to complete the works in accordance with the established plans.
The meeting further discussed mechanisms for joint coordination between CITRA, the relevant government entities, and the Google Cloud team, as well as following up on the requirements associated with the implementation of the project. These efforts aim to accelerate the pace of work and support the completion of the project in line with the approved frameworks and plans.
The participants commended the efforts of the relevant government entities and the level of cooperation and coordination among them in supporting the completion of the project. They emphasized the importance of integrated government efforts in supporting and accelerating the implementation of strategic projects in the telecommunications and information technology sector, contributing to the development of digital infrastructure and strengthening the State of Kuwait's position in this sector.
